This is the latest card I've created - for a special young woman who has been a good friend for the past four years. I've had the privilege of seeing her grow from a sweet and shy high school graduate to a still sweet, but a little less shy, beautiful and intelligent college graduate. I wanted to use her school colors and since she is so feminine; a shabby chic" style seemed to be in order. I used Stampin 'Up!'s background stamp "I Love Lace" and the greeting is from the "Pure Gumption" stamp set also from Stampin' Up! The lace image which I stamped on both sides, is on regular computer paper because I wanted it to have a more delicate feel. The edges were torn and curled to give it that "shabby" look. The greeting is on Whisper White card stock which has been crunched and torn with a special metal tool. The edges were sponged with black ink and the paper was splattered. with red ink. The black card stock and envelope are from Hobby Lobby. The flower was made from two colors of red card stock which have been punched with a flower punch in six layers, crunched sprayed (with water) to break down the paper fibers, crunched and sprayed again and then dried with a heating tool. The layers are held together with a cute gingham cloth brad (which really can't be seen). The edges were un-crunched and shaped until it looked just right. The flower was then adhered to the card with regular Elmer's glue. Of course it needed some shiny, so I added a few rhinestones. So what do you think? Please leave a comment below. I am so geared for Summer to be here! Actually I am happy Spring is here. But I love the beach, and couldn't wait to use the thongs stamp. It is so cute and goes really well with the palm tree stamp. These are not Stampin' Up! products, but the sentiment on the inside and the greeting on the envelope flap are. The designer paper, card stock and envelope are all from Stampin' UP, as is the ink. Details to come.....
