I am really tired of this long, long, cold winter (as I am sure you are) and decided to brighten up my journal with some flowers. I haven't really used these stencils and I rather like them, don't you? Not very realistic, but they are fun.
I finally finished this page! . . . .I printed out the "photos" of my famous boyfriends just like I promised.(lol) and added some embossed hearts and lace - which is actually from a piece of wax paper I used when die cutting to keep the paper from sticking to the die. So what do you think?
Here is my most recent art journal page. I think I may be starting to get the hang of it. I just started working with "lovey dovey" stuff - a script background stamp,, various heart and valentine stamps and a key stamp. Here is a detail, although it may still be hard to see exactly what it is. I used a piece of plastic lace shelving material to stencil a lace effect and covered over it with gel medium to give it a three dimensional look. I am going to add some pictures of my famous boyfriends next - haha. Will post as soon as possible.
I did this page last Sunday. I had no ideas in mind but decided to use this cute stamp set I had called "Furry Folk" from Stampin' Up! Do you see the beaver hiding behind the tree. I used a lacy edged die cut for the grass to add a little texture and dimension to the page. Here's a close up of the bunny, racoon and mouse. They are obviously not size proportionate, but they are cute non the less! The bunny ended up looking very surprised to be in the company of a mouse and racoon!
What are your thoughts? Please leave a comment. As Always thank you for visiting My daughter and I and a friend have decided to do an Art Journal together. We started in October and initially were going to do this once a month, but decided to do this weekly because we have become so perfectionistic about doing art that we were no longer having fun. The idea of doing it once a week was so we could loosen up and become a little more spontaneous. I am struggling with this because I have difficulty coming up with ideas and executing them without first planning them out and worrying if they are good ideas or whether they will turn out as a finished product. Here are some of the results: As you can see these pages are incomplete. Technically they aren't journal pages because I didn't really "journal" on them. But it is forcing me to be okay with just putting ideas down more quickly. . .something I had no trouble with when I was in school. Back then I had trouble planning things out. The first one was done with a Halloween theme (obviously) because we were going to do this - the three of us together - once a month. But then we found our friend had done some pages on her own and we (my daughter and I) decided we would follow her lead and try not to be so uptight. This one I really had no clue what to do, so I just grabbed what "jumped out at me" and worked with that. This one was done on January 4th. I decided to share the process with you. Obviously this is the empty page with the stamp and stencil I planned to work with. . .I am losing spontaneity already! Here are the two pages planned out. As you can see I've daubed the edges to make the pages more cohesive. This is how it looks completed. I liked the idea of using a quote and I may be doing this from now on. What are your thoughts?
